Universal Analog Inputs
Providing your controllers with even more I/O capabilities, the -106 utilizes 6 analog inputs, 4 analog outputs, 12 digital inputs, and 12 digital outputs. Software configurable, these inputs are universal for such signals as voltage (0-10, 0-60mV), current (0-20, 4-20mA), thermocouples, and RTD (PT100, PT1000).
By selecting the -106 factory I/O option board for the XL controller, most process inputs can be captured, reducing the need for remote I/O or signal conditioners – cost-reducing and centralizing control applications.

SmartBlock I/O features a variety of Analog and Specialty modules. SmartBlock I/O is designed to compliment the popular SmartStix Digital I/O family. These two I/O families can be used to expand the I/O capacity of just about any Operator Control Station (OCS) by merely a few points - or potentially thousands of points.
SmartStix I/O is an ideal terminal-block style Digital I/O system - but SmartBlock I/O is built for Analog. Like it's SmartStix cousin, SmartBlock I/O is mounted on DIN-rail, although through hold mounting is also supported for flexibility. SmartBlock can be mounted locally in the same panel as the OCS, or can be mounted remotely up to 500 meters away. SmartBlock is based on the proven CsCAN network, which uses industry-standard CAN chipsets for noise immunity and data integrity. But unlike other industrial implementation of CAN like DeviceNet, SmartBlock's CsCAN network sets the bar with its ease of configuration in the CsCAPE software.

With Cscape 9.50, Horner
includes a variety of features, enhancing the programming environment and user
experience. Adding Tag Based Advanced Ladder Logic offers an alternate way to
program controllers using tagged variables, such as “Pump_Operation,” rather
than a fixed register in the target device.
“Tag Based editing allows for clearer coding and ease of use for a variety of different levels coding experience. When using variables while programming with Tag Editing it’s more difficult to accidentally overlap registers, cutting down significant causes of programming errors,” says Eric Broyer, Global Product Manager for Horner Automation Group.
Along with adding Tag Based editing, Cscape 9.50 includes advancements in graphics control and functionality including: background and button gradations on 15-bit or higher color units, smoother gradient transitions on Horner’s powerful all-in-one controllers that support 24-bit color, and bitmap transparency functionality.
Data logging receives an upgrade as well, both visually on-screen and functionally. Now Historical data trending tracks data over time, and trending objects can be set to log-to and replay-from a removable media device.
In addition to the many new benefits, Cscape 9.50 supports PID Tuning for IEC environments. Now, the programmer has the capability to open a pop-up window tool that will tune a PID loop in IEC programs.

Horner Automation Group announces the launch of the XL7, its newest addition to the XL OCS series. The innovative XL7 provides original equipment manufacturers (OEMs,) integrators and automation end-users with a powerful high performance logic controller and twice the connectivity of all other products in its class.
The XL7 was designed around a high-resolution wide aspect ratio 7” WVGA color touchscreen with 1000 nits of brightness. The innovative display provides high outdoor visibility and allows the XL7 to be used in a wide variety of ambient condition applications. The backlit LED display enables a higher pixel resolution granting end-users the capability to view more in-depth information on screen.
In addition to its exceptional display performance, the XL7 contains a powerful logic engine with built-in digital and analog I/O for online programming – a valuable feature for machine commissioning. Also featured are two 500 kHz high-speed counters and dual 10/100 Ethernet ports. This adds flexibility when linking to factory networks like Modbus/TCP and Ethernet/IP, while performing standard functions such as: web serving, FTP file transfer, E-mail and protocol support.
The XL7’s dual CAN Ports put your applications into motion. One port utilizes CsCAN for Distributed Plug and Play I/O over a 500m distance. The second port provides support for CANopen and J1939 for mobile applications.

Right in time for the New Year, Horner APG Canada is pleased to announce the launch of its largest, most powerful all-in-one controller ever. The ZX series contains advanced control capabilities, high-resolution graphics, and plenty of connectivity options. Both advanced ladder logic and full IEC language sets are supported. For advanced ladder, the ZX is the first OCS to feature online programming - where logic changes can be made "on-the-fly" without stopping or pausing the logic scan. The ZX is also one of the fastest controllers available on the market with 4x the logic and register memory. And the OCS has never been lacking in I/O support - with the ability to drive up over 5,000 I/O points.
Three ZX screen sizes are offered. The 22" HD (1920 x 1080) model (ZX1152) is the largest all-in-one controller ever made. The 15" (ZX752) is a more traditional XGA (1024 x 768) touch screen. And the 7" (ZX452), wide-VGA model (800 x 480) produces over 800 nits of brightness. All units are UL approved.
With the release of our newest product line, the XL4 series, comes the release of our latest version of Cscape Software. CsCape Version 9.30 is a new release offering a variety of product improvements, including:
- Support for logic module re-ordering.
- Support for IEC language translation.
- Support for scrolling in the graphics editor. Allows panning around larger screens to see detail while zoomed.
This update, as well as all others, are also offered quarterly to anyone who signs up for our newsletter online. The Fiber Optic Expansion (FOX) system provides expanded SmartStack I/O support OCS. It is also the primary means for QVGA and SVGA Color-Touch OCS to support SmartStack. All QVGA and SVGA Color-Touch OCS models include a 2m fiber cable pair to support a single base. SmartStack™ FOX supports a variety of architectures, offering greater flexibility in I/O layout. These include Star, Daisy-chain, or Combination. Each SmartStack™ FOX cable segment can be up to 10m in length, with no Base/Hub located more than three segments (3x10m) from the OCS.
The RX371 OCS provides flexible options allowing you to choose the functionality you need. The RX Ruggedized Color - Touch OCS comes with a microSD slot, CsCAN, USB mini-B (programming) and USB-A, full on-board Ethernet and two RS232/RS485 serial ports. Logic capability includes 256K, 0.2ms/K scan rate, and 32Kb registers. Each unit is a highly integrated operator interface and controller with expandable I/O and networking capabilities have standard features consisting of the following:

- Bright, 32000 Color graphical Touch sensing LCD display.
